radioAUDIO – DESCRIPTION:
On May 2, 2014, NDP leader Andrea Horwath said that her party would vote against the Liberal budget released one day earlier, and that resulted in Liberal Premier Kathleen Wynne’s march to the Lieutenant Governor General of Ontario, who was asked to dissolve the Legislature. An election writ would be dropped the following Wednesday, May 7, 2014. Andrew Lawton (host of AM980’s Andrew Lawton Show in London, Ontario) opened his phone lines and asked his audience who they were going to vote for, especially given the PC/Liberal/NDP’s silence on the issue of balancing Ontario’s budget. The result was surprising.

2013-05-06.mckeever-thumbAUDIO – DESCRIPTION:

Freedom Party of Ontario leader Paul McKeever is the guest of “The Andrew Lawton Show”, which airs beginning at 1:00 PM daily on AM980, in London, Ontario. The interview began at 1:35 PM.

The discussion was prompted by a November 2, 2013 CBC news report about Mr. Sam Lou, who has been a barber for 15 years. Pursuant to the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009, hairdressing (which is deemed to include the work done by a barber) is currently the only service identified as a compulsory trade (compulsory in the sense that one must now be a member of the College of Trades in order to perform the work of a hairdresser or barber). Mr. Lou has been told that either he must learn the hairdressing techniques needed to style, perm, colour etc. a woman’s hair, or else he cannot be a member of the College of Trades. Having opened a barber shop one month ago, the government has just shut down his business. Another Barber, Mr. Frank Olszynko – who has been cutting hair since the 1960s – says that if he is fined for carrying on his barber work without membership in the College, he will refuse to pay the fine, and will fight it in court.

McKeever explains that, although the College of Trades must go, that is not the root of the problem. The problem is that government is preventing people from buying or selling services freely.

2013-05-06.mckeever-thumbAUDIO – DESCRIPTION:

In this full episode of Andy Oudman’s radio show “London Today” (1290 CJBK AM – London), Freedom Party leader Paul McKeever speaks with Andy about two issues that had emerged in the provincial by-election in London West on July 30th, 2013.

On July 30th, the NDP campaign for candidate Peggy Sattler bought a front page “wrap” ad on the London Free Press which ad depicted poll data in a way that made it appear – falsely – as though the NDP were now leading in the polls for the riding. In addition, e-mails received by party leader Paul McKeever from concerned Londoners led McKeever to research and write a report in which Ontario PC candidate Ali Chahbar asked to clarify whether or not he has ever been a federal Conservative, whether he has been a Liberal supporter provincially, and whether he agrees with the toxic views expressed by his spouse and her “Solidarity for Palestinian Human Rights” (SPHR) in 2004 and 2005. SPHR had erected what they called an “apartheid wall”, which they said was an “effigy” of the wall in Israel; they said that Israel was involved in apartheid and oppression (as against Palestinians), and accused Israelis of “genocide”. In this episode of “London Today” (1290 CJBK AM – London), Freedom Party leader Paul McKeever speaks with Andy Oudman about the breaking news of the arrest on child porn charges of former Education Deputy Minister Ben Levin, who was in power during the development of Ontario’s age-innappropriate sex ed curriculum (abandoned in 2010 pursuant to public outcry). The interview was recorded shortly after noon on July 8, 2013. The full interview was aired shortly after 10:00 AM on July 9, 2013.
