On May 20, 2021, Freedom Party president Robert Metz hosted an episode of the radio show “Just Right” that focused on the need for principled governmental decision making and on the consequent importance of Freedom Party. Just Right described the episode as follows:

“Freedom! Freedom! Freedom!” That has been an increasing chant heard at ever-growing protests around the world and in Canada, where Ontario’s fascist premier Doug Ford boasts that his is the most locked down jurisdiction in North America.

Sad to say, freedom has never been on the agenda of any political party found in the federal parliament or provincial legislatures of Canada. This is remarkable, given that freedom has always been touted by each of these parties as being a fundamental value of the nation. Yet freedom always takes a back seat to their various collectivist priorities – priorities that simply cannot possibly co-exist with freedom.

Tragically, most of those chanting ‘freedom’ are not really seeking individual freedom because they do not even know what freedom is. Rather, they are desperate to escape their latest version of oppression – currently a pretended ‘viral’ epidemic created to generate fear and to justify the unjustifiable – tyranny.

Though it is true that Canada lacks principled leadership, the real weakness in the Canadian fabric is not to be found in its leaders; it is to be found in Canadians themselves who routinely dismiss supporting the rare political party or politician that would put freedom first.

Consider the following observation, brought to our attention by one of our listeners, and which originated from the Czech Republic in a commentary published in a Prague newspaper:

“The danger to Canada is not Justin Trudeau, but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him as Prime Minister. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of a Trudeau government than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their leader. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Trudeau, who is a mere symptom of what ails Canada.

“Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. Canada can survive Trudeau, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive the multitude of fools who made him their Prime Minister.”

Certainly, this is not a flattering description of our nation. Yet it explains why so many people in other nations are ‘laughing’ at Canada or looking at our country with shock and contempt.

Driven by fear instead of by courage and principle, a majority of Canadians routinely vote ‘against’ the party or candidate they fear most, openly admitting that they are voting for the ‘lesser of’ a given number of evils. But the ‘lesser’ of any number of evils is still evil and will not change the direction of a nation already heading towards tyranny.

Though a necessary step in the right direction, merely wanting to end the lockdowns is not enough. What is required now, as always, is an eternally vigilant political effort to move towards freedom, a goal made explicit by only two as yet not elected political parties on the Canadian scene: The Freedom Party of Ontario founded in 1984, and the People’s Party of Canada founded in 2019.

Each party has been routinely condemned, misrepresented, or simply ignored, not just by the establishment and corporate media but also by those claiming to seek freedom who do not understand the nature of political parties and their role in the democratic marketplace. Drawing upon our own front-line experience with both parties, today’s broadcast offers some insight as to how the principles of politics can indeed parallel the politics of principle in a way that is Just Right.
