  • CITY OF LONDON GARBAGE STRIKE

Imagine you're a political party dedicated to upholding the principles of individual freedom. Then along comes a Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) strike that halts essential services, including city curbside garbage collection. What do you, as an advocate of free minds and free markets, do? Simple. You start your own free garbage collection as a campaign to combine constructive protest with the promotion of private contracting as a means of introducing freedom of choice to municipal services!

Read the story of how Freedom Party trashed the garbage strike, and, incredibly, attracted the wrath of the Ontario Ministry of the Environment for picking up garbage "without a permit"!
