I drove one of the vans donated by the London-Middlesex Taxpayers' Coalition on Dec.11.
While driving by the rally at the Western Fair grounds, a striker/picketer yelled "scab" at me. This seemed to imply that this was, in fact, not just a rally or protest against the Harris government, but a strike against the citizens of London.
Among the people I had provided rides for were a man with an appointment for a job interview, a student who needed to get to Fanshawe College, and another going home after filling in at his sister's store. I didn't get all their stories but the rest of those appreciative people were divided between elderly coming and going from shopping and others trying to get to work.
I am sure many protestors would not call me a scab just for trying to help those who didn't participate get through the day, to help a few of the innocent victims who too often suffer when the powers that be play on the fears of the public and take their battle to the streets.
