Ontario's Pesticide Ban to be Eliminated

Freedom Party releases new pre-election video ad and plank

April 18, 2011 Toronto
- On April 22, 2009 (Earth Day), Premier Dalton McGuinty's Liberal government introduced a ban on a wide range of lawn and garden herbicides and pesticides.  A 2011 election plank released today by Freedom Party of Ontario calls for the elimination of the ban.

The plank is being promoted with a new pre-election video advertisement, also released today, which is available here.

"The pesticides and herbicides banned by the McGuinty government are approved by Health Canada" says Freedom Party leader Paul McKeever.  "The ban was founded on the irrational principle that if you are afraid of something, you should ban it, even though there is no scientific evidence of harmfulness.  A Freedom government will act on science, not on baseless fears.

"A Freedom government will eliminate Dalton McGuinty's irrational ban on lawn and garden care products.  Ontario will have beautiful lawns and gardens again".
